M.A. in Social Work (Counselling) – Interview Experience

A candidate from the course, MSW (Counselling), shared her interview experience with us. She has done her graduation with Triple Majors in Psychology, Journalism and Literature from Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Bangalore. Here her experience.

Extempore topic: “Human Rights”

Questions asked during her interview round are as follows: –

  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. Why have you chosen this course?
  3. What is social work?
  4. Instead of pursuing your masters in a conventional way by taking counseling, why did you decide to take social work in counseling? (as she had done 3 internships, 4 workshops and one specialized certificate course in counselling)
  5. When did you understand and realized you had anxiety issues? (she mentioned in her DAF that she had anxiety issues)
  6. Your favorite school of psychology?
  7. What is the best therapy to treat a community? Which therapy will be more convenient? ( they asked her this because she said psychoanalytic is her favorite school of psychology)
  8. Difference between psychoanalytic and Erik Erikson theories.
  9. Is diagnosing yourself or anyone without professional experience viable?
  10. How does psychology impacts news media?
  11. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  12. Do you have any questions for us?

Her interview went for around 25 minutes.
